Training Contracts

At Franklins, we believe a legal career should be built for the long term.

For over 40 years, we have supported individuals, families and businesses across Milton Keynes, Northampton and beyond. Our Law for Life approach means we focus on lasting relationships, practical advice and doing the right thing for our clients and our people.

That same commitment shapes how we develop our trainees. We invest in people who want to grow, contribute and build their future with us.

A strong career begins with the right environment

Why Train with Franklins?

From day one, you will be part of a supportive team where your contribution matters. You will gain hands-on experience, work directly with experienced lawyers and benefit from Partners who are approachable and invested in your development.

When you join Franklins, you can expect:

  • Early responsibility and meaningful client exposure
  • Support and guidance from experienced colleagues
  • Structured development and clear progression
  • A collaborative culture built on respect and trust
  • The opportunity to build a long-term career

We develop lawyers who combine technical strength with empathy, commercial awareness and a genuine understanding of clients’ lives and businesses.

Our Pathway to Qualification

Begin as a Paralegal

Many of our trainees start with us as Paralegals.

This gives you valuable, practical experience and the chance to develop confidence in a professional and supportive setting. We usually ask candidates to complete at least six months in a Paralegal role before applying for a training contract. This allows you to understand our culture, demonstrate your potential and decide whether Franklins feels like the right long-term home for your career.

Progress to a Training Contract

Successful Paralegals may be invited to apply for a training contract and continue their journey with us.

Our training contracts offer structured experience across a range of practice areas, alongside ongoing learning and mentoring.

You will build the technical expertise and professional judgement needed to qualify as a solicitor, supported by people who genuinely want to see you succeed.
