Sarah is the Head of the Dispute Resolution team across both the Northampton and Milton Keynes offices, and specialises in commercial and property litigation, contentious probate, trusts and inheritance claims, debt recovery and regulatory prosecutions in particular those related to breaches of the money laundering regulations. 

Her experience in complex litigation covers a broad range from contractual, director, shareholder, construction and franchise disputes, injunctive proceedings to warranty, indemnity, insurance claims and contentious probate, trusts and inheritance claims. 

Sarah is also a dual Accredited Mediator gaining the internationally recognized CEDR accreditation (Centre of Effective Dispute Resolution) certification in 2018 and London’s Regent’s University School of Psychotherapy and Psychology accreditation in 2017. As well as being an effective mediator, Sarah is able to bring these negotiation skills to her litigation caseload. Sarah is also a certified NLP Master Practitioner.

Sarah formerly chaired of the Northamptonshire branch of the Institute of Directors (IoD) and was responsible for the development of IoD’s East Midlands Young Directors Forum. She was an independent member of The University of Northampton’s Audit Committee for 8 years.

In recognition of her skills and contribution to the business community, Sarah was named Solicitor of the Year 2015 by the Northamptonshire Law Society.

Dispute Resolution team

Sarah Canning heads up the Dispute Resolution team based out of our Northampton office, although the team does cover work from in and around Milton Keynes as well. In total the team has over 40 years experience in the area of the law.
