The rising tide of speed cameras sweeping the nation has meant it is harder than ever to keep your driving licence in good shape.
The CPS Crown Prosecution Service are due to publish this autumn changes to road traffic offences, one likely change may include -
- Mobile phone use - the proposal is, that because of public concerns regarding the use of mobile phones, the starting point for this offence will now be Dangerous Driving as long as there is clear evidence that a danger has been caused by the use of the mobile phone. This could mean a dramatic increase in penalties - currently 3 points and a fine to up to 2 years in prison and disqualification from driving for a minimum of 12 months.
Franklins will let you know if this proposal comes into Law.
Even though most people know that 12 points on a licence means a ban, what people don't realise is that a licence can be saved! Just as there are ways to avoid a ban through drink driving.
