I was told to lift a heavy item at work by my supervisor and as a result Ive done my back in. My doctor tells me that I have a slipped disk. What can I do about this?
A slipped disc is very painful and you are also likely to have been signed off work for awhile. It is important that you ensure the accident has been recorded in the accident book at work. Lifting at work is a task covered by many health and safety regulations and your employer has a number of duties placed upon him/her to ensure that all lifting jobs are done safely. It is also important that you take your doctor's advice in relation to recovering and also the extent to which you are able to lift in the future. We will advise as to whether your employer asked you to perform the task reasonably and whether they had complied with all of their obligations. If you decide to proceed following the advice, we can look at the best way forward for you.
